Welcome to Pierre Music!
Started by former Pierre middle school band teacher Kerry Freidel. We’ve been offering music instruments and instruction since 2011. We teach all instruments for children to adults from beginner to advanced.
For total beginners we start with Musicolor Method, a proven international curriculum that’s fun, simple and effective. Over time we can advance to other curricula including Suzuki, Faber, Albert and many more.
We currently serve over 150 students in the Pierre area and beyond. Our teachers are patient, kind, and passionate and many have advanced degrees in music.
We believe that music teaches life skills that can boost academics, career, and life! There have been many studies that prove scientifically the power of music education to boost brain development, fine motor skills and many more.

The Musicolor Method uses color notation as educational scaffolding to play piano fast – and then they learn all the fundamentals along the way.
By directly labeling fingers, keys and songs using colors (a language that all children understand), we can have your child playing their first foundational song in minutes!

OUR CURRICULUM
The Musicolor Method was developed over the last 15 years of intensive research, design, development and testing in live lessons. It has been proven to make learning music fun and not overwhelming. It's also the reason most of students continue with us for 5, 10 and more years! It also enables us to work with pre-literate beginners as young as 4, sometimes 3 1/2 and even special-needs students.
It is an adaptive, inclusive and universal curriculum that is unique and proprietary to us in Pierre.

Private Lesson Program
The Private Lesson Program is designed to give students a chance to learn at their own pace. This program is tailored to meet each student’s individual needs and will provide the most efficient path to instrument proficiency.
The Private Lesson Program includes weekly 30-minute private one-on-one sessions. The Private Lesson Program is split between summer sessions and school year sessions.
